Cravings...

09 february 2011 9:25pm .. i suddenly felt a craving for swarma .. i don't know why - i just want to eat swarma :D. i haven't had my favorite combo of chicken swarma and fruit cocktail for a long time so i dialled the cafeteria's no. and... yes.... they delivered my order ....to my doorstep! it's a good thing here in dubai - they deliver to your very doorstep even a small order only. there are so many cafeterias around and i think it is very competitive so they have to win their customers (even with small orders only) ... poor guys though - some people are abusing this service .. hayzzz....

10 february 2011 6:00am: i woke up from a dream ... that i was eating a dish of a yummy hot champorado prepared by my lola! up i got and went directly to our pantry looking for the malagkit - which unfortunately i do not have that time. so i settled for the jasmine rice instead - cook it till it puffed :d - just the way my lola makes her champorado (malagkit nga lang) hehehe ... while waiting for it to puff.. i dissolved some cocoa in a cup and took out the almost empty bottle of peanut butter from the cabinet. i still have tableas but it is not enough so i needed to add some cocoa. Once the rice puffed i added some sugar, the tableas, cocoa and the peanut butter .. stir a bit once in a while to avoid the rice sticking to the bottom and after few minutes .. viola!!! champorado na!!!

11:30 am: after satisfying my craves for champorado, another craving came.... paksiw naman! ahahaha .. and i was like thinking of tanigue sana.. but no tanigue available at the fish store near our place so i settled for that fish - opps i forgot the name .. the one with yellow on the tail end?? hasa-hasa?? anyways it is a meaty fish .. i had it cleaned, head removed and tail cut out (and they did that for free!) :D ... when i got home, i rinsed the fish .. arranged them in a pan, added sliced onions, ginger, garlic, peppercorn, salt and vinegar and over to a medium fire. Once the vinegar boils, lower the fire to let the vinegar cook - and do not stir! my lola said stirring will make the vinegar 'sariwa' heheh how do you say that in english ??? .. the vinegar will not cook well - something like that , and after it has boiled add little water according to your liking... i like my paksiw with a (lot) bit of sabaw :D then i added a bit of soy sauce and a bit of oyster sauce ... ahahah weird no! and it tasted great!

i remembered (giggles) when my flatmate - Sue came home in the evening and saw the brown glass bowl - she thought it was 'fish steak' !!! ahahaha .. kasi daw it is brown :D

i had my paksiw that late afternoon (lunch daw) with garlic fried rice and barrio fiesta spicy (pala!) bagoong... and it was yummylicious....

hayzzzz .. the more i missed my lola..... :(
